First Annual Graduate Student Conference

Participation for Social Change:
Critical dialogues on local and global possibilities
September 26-27, 2008, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada
Goal of the Conference
  • To engage students and youth in fostering proactive global citizenship by linking local actions globally for social change.

Objectives of the Conference

  • To showcase high-quality graduate student research on international or Canadian participation issues through presentation and publication
  • To facilitate a networking opportunity among students from different faculties, and universities; interested academics; and local practitioners
  • To publish and profile student research internationally on PD Forum’s Virtual Gateway

This conference is organized by PD Forum in collaboration with Carleton University and the University of Ottawa with the financial support of the International Development Research Centre. It is open to all.

PD Forum has 14 Board Members representing North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, Asia /Pacific and Ottawa. Five board members are based in Ottawa in order to provide a foundation to oversee funding, programming and staffing.
